Galicia’s Coast Guard Service is the organisation in charge of maritime surveillance, search, rescue and protection operations in Galician waters. It reports directly to Consellería do Mar.

In 2015 we celebrated 25 years since a service helicopter first performed a rescue operation in our community. This marked the beginning of a service that since then has been watching over the safety of people at sea.

Another one of this organization’s major initiatives is to fight against the challenge of poaching and the illegal unfair competition that affects thousands of professionals who make a living from the fishing and seafood industry in Galicia.
